Locus Recommends

Locus just published its “2014 Recommended Reading List”

Interestingly, I find myself agreeing with a surprising number of books on this list. I usually don’t keep up with recent releases because I’ve re-committed to the library, but I’ve read and agree with quite a few of their suggestions: World of Trouble by Ben H. Winters, The Last Reach Trilogy by Jeff Vandeermeer, City of Stairs by Robert Jackson Bennett, Full Fathom Five by Max Gladstone, The Girls at the Kingfisher Club by Genevieve Valentine, California Bones by Greg van Eekhout.

I’m looking forward to trying out Afterparty by Daryl Gregory, Lagoon by Nnedi Okorafor , Dreams of Gods & Monsters by Laini Taylor and Hawk by Steven Brust.

Still, there’s a few I’d argue a few are more buzz than talent (Lock In by Scalzi, The Magician’s Land by Lev Grossman).

Any you would recommend? Avoid?
